History

Pennsbury is a unique borough in that it is entirely a municipality consisting of townhouse condominiums, having been built in 1973 as part of Robinson Township.  In 1976, the residents decided, in the words of their Declaration of Secession, “that we can govern our affairs more effectively and equitable than a distant and disinterested authority”. A year later, following a court ruling, the residents separated from Robinson Township and the Borough of Pennsbury Village became the 130th municipality in Allegheny County.

In January, 1977, the first Council of elected officials and a Mayor were elected and took office. Today, this unique condominium municipality continues to flourish and maintain its very special lifestyle.
